We had booked almost 9 months in advance, but still got put in a room right over reception which made for much noise even with our door closed and the air-conditioning on! They had one of the most magnificent breakfast buffets we have had in a hotel and it changed daily. Hardly much room to unpack your clothes – so you may need to rethink a long term stay unless you are happy to live out of your suitcase. His explanation was it is not his fault if guests don’t check out in time (but surely it is?) Anyway, putting that aside – the room was very functional. We waited over an hour and half before we lost our patience and complained to the manager – then all of a sudden our room was ready. One of the staff members patiently explained where all the good local places to eat were – very helpful! Then we were told our room was not ready yet (even though we arrived after check-in time). On arrival we were met in the beautiful reception with a yummy cocktail. Refresh the bathrooms, get some of those Netflix T.Vs, sort your beds out, buy some kettles, invest in more bottles of water!! This would have been a good place five years ago but now needs to keep up with what other hotels are offering for the same price. It's a shame as this could be a perfect, mini luxury hotel but the management really need to spend some money on updating the rooms beyond just painting the walls and sticking up some baskets as decor! I feel it's a misleading image to potential guests, glossy from afar but substandard up close. My partner and I both suffering with bad backs because of this! The bathroom was pretty terrible - the shower water would go everywhere, old moulding tiles and just not very attractive (there are very few photos of the bathrooms online and this is why). The bed was terrible, an old mattress on top of loose wooden slats that would move around. The television is dated and old, poor wifi, no tea/coffee facilities and it would have been nice to have a free bottle of water each day not just the first. The room decor was nice however the amenities are not that of a 4* hotel. There is a really good choice of food at breakfast, however the coffee was awful and I was disappointed there were no lactose or gluten free options provided as now seems standard in most hotels. The swimming pools and landscaping were lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful and really create a lovely atmosphere - the service feels very personal. We spent 5 nights at this hotel which was great in some aspects but lacking in many ways.
